Aoraki / Mt Cook Wedding Photography
Just wrapped another breathtaking elopement in one of my all-time favourite places, Aoraki / Mt Cook, New Zealand. Every time I’m there, it reminds me exactly why I keep coming back.
I've spent a lot of time photographing around Mt Cook, and it never gets old. The way the light plays off those snow-capped peaks, the stillness of the alpine air, the drama in every ridgeline, it’s a place that knows how to show up for love stories. The tracks, the hidden pockets of quiet beauty, chasing the light as it moves through the valleys. This landscape moves you, and I know how to make it sing on camera.
This couple? Absolute legends. Adventurous, joyful, totally in the moment, even with the wind tugging at her veil and the cold biting at their fingertips, they were up for every step. We started at near Tasman Lake, clouds still clinging low, giving us that soft, moody atmosphere that Mt Cook does so well. Later, we hiked to the lookout over Mueller Lake, a favourite spot of mine where it feels like we have the whole world to ourselves.
It wasn’t just a elopement. It was an experience. Real laughs, quiet moments, windblown kisses, and two people wildly in love, exactly the kind of energy I love to capture.
If you’re dreaming of a wedding or elopement that feels raw, remote, and unforgettable Mt Cook is it. I’ve shot there more times than I can count, and I’d go back tomorrow. Aoraki always delivers.
